GULFPORT – Lena Florence Spight Adams, 94, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, in Gulfport. She was born in Ecru and had been a resident of Gulfport for 68 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gulfport for 58 years, taught the First Grade Sunday School Class for 30 years and was a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class. She attended MSCW and was a graduate of the University of Mississippi. She was the co-founder of Adams Flowers Inc. of Gulfport and was active in the business until 2002. She was a member of the Gulfport Fine Arts Club and a former member of the Gulfport Yacht Club, Junior Women’s Club of Gulfport, Metropolitan Dinner Club, Merry Maskers Carnival Association and the Miss. Florist Association. She was a loving mother and grandmother and never met a stranger.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home Chapel in Gulfport. Burial will be in the Evergreen Gardens.
Survivors include one son, John S. “Johnny” Adams and his wife, Mary Katherine, of Pass Christian; a granddaughter, Melissa Harris Adams of Dallas, Texas; a grandson, William Brent Adams and his wife, Diane, of Gulfport; a great-granddaughter, Abigail Elizabeth Adams; and her devoted caregiver, Jackie Greene of Saucier.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Clyde Gates Spight; her husband, William F. “Bill” Adams Jr.; one son, William H. “Bert” Adams; and a daughter-in-law, Diana Shaw Adams.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home in Gulfport.

Einmal in Erinnerungen kramen - und gleich was scheckliches finden....Es hat mich sehr bestürzt zu erfahren, dass *Miss Lena* wie ich sie nannte im Januar diesen Jahres verstorben ist....sie wird immer in meinen Gedanken sein....
