Nun bekommt Dubai doch noch richtige Strassennamen anstatt nur Nummern :-)
In den Nachrichten wurde bekannt gegeben, dass sich nun einer drangesetzt hat um das Lexikon zu durchforschen nach passenden Namen für zigtausende Strassen...

Ob sich dann die Taxifahrer oder Pizzalieferdienste besser auskennen weiss der Geier - wir werden gespannt sein, hehehe..und das bald mit einer Home-Delivery-Pizza austesten!!!

Stop moaning and learn the new names

The residents of Dubai will have to buckle down and learn the new street names that the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will be rolling out over the next few months. We will then find that directions will become much easier, and we can all find our way around more quickly. Any confusion on the roads has to be overcome by getting to know the new names.

The problem with the existing system is that although the numbered streets were slowly becoming familiar, the numbered communities never did, so people easily confused a Street 48 in one district with Street 48 in another district. And very few people knew their district number.

Meanwhile, spare a thought for the poor official working his way through the dictionary as he tackles the vast task of naming tens of thousands of streets with unique names. He deserves a major community award.
